Description of the research group

The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC) - is a public institution of research and higher education in the fields of engineering, architecture, sciences, and technology, and one of the leading technical universities in Europe. 

The UPC Manresa campus is the main hub related to raw materials studies and research in Catalonia, hosting the Smart Sustainable Resources (SSR) research center. The SSR includes more than 40 researchers and professors from the UPC Manresa.

The SSR aims to create, innovate, and transfer knowledge in the field of primary and secondary raw materials through technologies for the localization, processing, optimization, and reuse of these resources. Approaching its study from a multidisciplinary perspective, which includes:

  • Exploration and extraction techniques.

  • Physical, chemical, and biological treatment of the resources and the wastes generated in their exploitation.

  • Information and communication technologies for the collection and interpretation of information through sensors, communication networks, and data processing systems.

  • Mining engineer with a PhD in mining engineering from the UPC.

  • Research interests: mining engineering, mineral resources, mine ventilation, underground mining, sustainable and responsible mining, environmental and social factors in the mine assessment.

  • Assistant professor at Department of Mining, Industrial and ICT Engineering. 
  • Mining engineer with a PhD in in mineral processing from the UPC.
  • Supervising 3 PhD students, Publications: 33.
  • Research interests: mineral processing, comminution techniques such as milling and crushing, recovery of valuable materials from waste, Mining Engineering, Geochemistry, Geology, Petrology.
  • Teaching: Environmental Technologies and Sustainability; Project Management; Urban and Waste Mining
